Gymnocalycium Mihanovichii Daydream
Gymnocalycium Mihanovichii Daydream, aka Gymnocalycium mihanovichii cv. Daydream, commonly known as the Moon Cactus when grafted, is a fascinating and visually striking cactus. Native to Paraguay and Argentina, this species is noted for its dark purple to almost black surface and distinctive geometric ribs. What makes 'Daydream' particularly appealing are its mutant strains that lack chlorophyll, displaying vivid colours such as red, orange, or yellow. These colourful mutants are unable to synthesize their own food due to the lack of chlorophyll, so they are commonly grafted onto another cactus species, typically Hylocereus, which provides the necessary chlorophyll through its roots.
