Holiday Cactus

Schlumbergera truncata or Zygocactus truncata, often called a Christmas Cactus, this species of Zygocactus is actually a Thanksgiving Cactus. The reason they get confused is that they have a similar look, but this variety produces spectacular blooms late in the year and has broader, pointier leaves. Not actually a true cactus, these forest dwellers are not adapted to desert life, wanting less direct sunlight and more frequent watering than their distant relatives
